Many people are becoming aware of the importance of avoiding products that are created without the use of harmful toxins and other materials which are harmful to us and the environment, and since we spend so much of our time in bed, this has special importance to our babies. Therefore purchasing an mattress for your baby has many health benefits. While we will look at these, lets initially look at some possible problems with the crib mattresses that have been the standard for years. Traditional Mattresses - The Problem. Mattresses have been produced basically in an unchanged manner for years. To protect the outside of the mattress against the likely diaper spill event, these mattresses are encased with a impervious vinyl covering. The soft inner fiber used to stuff the mattress looks strangely similar to the insulation that is used to fill our home ceiling and wall cavities. Although this makes for a moisture-proof mattress and one that is comfortable, there are toxins used in the chemicals used to make the stuffing fire-proof.
Futons. Futons are an Asian invention. They are normally made from multiple layers of fibre or cotton. In the UK they are popular with younger people who are on a very tight budget as they are very affordable. The mattresses can be used on the floor or a frame can be purchased to make it more of a bed.
A lot of us have tried or are probably still using spring mattresses. We could say that sleeping on spring beds or mattresses is comfortable until we got stung by a broken spring. Spring mattresses have been the standard for many decades but the memory foam mattresses have become even more popular to date because of the undeniable comfort as well as the overall body support that many would not believe until they have tried these out for themselves. So why do more people choose memory mattresses over the standard spring mattresses? There have been comparisons made between memory foam mattresses and spring mattresses and a lot of people could attest that they found sleeping on memory foam mattresses to be better. Lying on a spring mattress does feel nice but when it comes to body contouring as well as spinal support a spring mattress do not even comes close to what the memory foam mattress could give. When you use a spring mattress, your body conforms to it. While your weight is on the spring mattress, the springs exert a resisting force against your body. A spring mattress relies only on a varied number of springs that are pushing back against you with all of them having the same force. Since your body does not push evenly against those springs, it is impossible for you to get proper support. And because of this and the fact that you are the one who is adjusting to the spring mattresss shape, your pressure points will lead to poor blood circulation and you would probably be complaining about body pains or sore muscles or stiffness when you wake up in the morning.
Water Beds. Waterbeds usually get their support from the amount of water in the mattress. There is no pressure on the body at all. These beds are known to be perfect for people suffering from allergies. Wave motion varies between beds. Some waterbeds also come with heaters to keep the bed warm.
